What is the Little House of Hope Raffle?

The Little House of Hope Raffle is a House Raffle benefiting the mission of Wooden It Be Lovely. The grand prize of the raffle is the Little House of Hope, located at 1729 Dial Court, Springfield, IL. The winner may opt for a grand prize of up to $100,000 in lieu of the home.  

Important Dates:

The Little House of Hope Raffle ticket sales will go on sale immediately following the Little Black Dress Gala on Friday, August 23, 2024.  

Early Bird Drawing will be September 24th. Early bird prizes are:

  • 1st- $1000 cash

  • 2nd- Scheels $500 gift card

  • 3rd- $250 Amazon gift card 

The Final Drawing will take place on Monday, November 25, 2024 at approximately 7:30 a.m. Drawing will take place at the Little House of Hope, 1729 Dial Court, Springfield.  

How much are tickets?

Tickets are $100 each. Service charges will apply to purchases with credit card.  

How many tickets will be sold?

A maximum of 2,250 tickets will be sold. Each ticket will be separately numbered in serial form. Payment due at the time of purchase. Ticket processes and controls will be monitored by Dottie Burris, CPA, Burris Accounting. Any ticket purchased after the first 2,250 tickets have been sold and registered in the database will be returned. All sales are final. The raffle committee shall reserve the right to disqualify entries deemed invalid by reason of improper or insufficient payment or any other rule violation.

How many tickets can I buy?

There is no limit. 

How do I purchase tickets?

1)    The Be Lovely Boutique (801 South Grand Ave. West) from 10 am - 2 pm Fridays and Saturdays with check or credit card

2)    Carrollton Bank (2135 Wabash, Springfield) during regular business hours

3) Through qualified staff and volunteer sellers, accepting cash, check, and Venmo (@WoodenitBe-Lovely).

4)    Mailing form and check (include house raffle in the memo line) made out to Wooden It Be Lovely, 501 S. Douglas Avenue, Springfield, IL 62704

5)    Online by credit card at: www.littlehouseofhoperaffle.com. Service charges will apply for online raffle ticket purchases.

Who is eligible to reserve tickets and win?

For all giveaways, you must be at least 18 years old at the time of purchase and a living resident of the United States. All paid staff of Wooden It Be Lovely and their immediate household and all paid associates of Wooden It Be Lovely are not eligible to reserve tickets and win. The person drawing the ticket is not eligible to reserve tickets and win.

What are the winner’s responsibilities?

The person accepting the prize shall assume all local, state and federal taxes (including, but not limited to, income taxes based upon the value of the Prize, real estate taxes and any other taxes, fees and financing costs (including, but not limited to, closing costs, escrow fees, title insurance, and transfer taxes and fees) which must be paid at the time the home is transferred to the Winner.

The person accepting the prize is solely responsible for all local, state and federal taxes resulting from the income attributable to the receipt of the Prize.  The Winner understands and agrees that the Winner must pay at he time of the delivery of Prize to the Winner, by means of cash payment or withholding from a cash prize, estimated federal and state income tax on all prizes having a value in excess of $5,000.  Upon notification of winning, the Winners shall provide any written information required by any applicable tax and/or real estate laws, including a completed From 5754, Statement by Person(s) Receiving Gambling Winnings to WIBL.  WIBL will provide the Winner an IRS Form W2-G reporting the value of the prize as income to the winner.  The Winner should consult their professional legal and accounting advisors regarding the tax effects of the Prize.

What if someone purchases a ticket for me?

If someone purchases a ticket for you, your name and contact information will appear on the ticket stub. If your name is selected and thus the winner the raffle, if you accept the prize you will be responsible for the taxes as outlined above.

What if I win the home and after ownership repairs are required?

By accepting the prize, the entrant agrees to accept the property “AS IS” and releases Wooden It Be Lovely staff, officers and representatives from any claim or liability with respect to the property. WIBL does not provide any guarantee or warranty, expressed or implied, in connection with the home and accepts no liability or responsibility regarding the condition of the home. WIBL does not warrant that the home is of merchantable quality or that it can be used for any particular purpose.  No express warranties are given and no affirmation of WIBL by words and/or actions will constitute a warranty.

May I claim my ticket as a tax deduction?

The IRS has adopted the position that the $100 ticket price is not deductible as a charitable donation for Federal income purposes.

If I win an early bird or ticket selling prize, can I also win the House of Hope House?

Yes! All ticket purchasers, including early bird prize winners, have an equal chance of winning the house.

What are the odds of winning?

The chances of winning are based on the number of tickets sold. If fewer tickets are sold, the chances of winning improve. All tickets have an equal chance of winning the house.

Do I have to be present to win?

No, you do not have to be present to win or have your ticket receipt with you. Winners will be announced by name, not ticket number, during the giveaway.  

How do I know if I won?

We will call you on the day of the giveaway. We will also notify each winner in writing through the U.S. mail and/or e-mail. A return response from the winner will be requested. The winner must notify the Raffle Committee their intent to accept the prize “AS IS” or opt for the cash prize of $100,000 within ten (10) days of notification, which is Monday, December 2, 2024, by 5 p.m.

Disclaimer

If Wooden It Be Lovely does not sell 2,250 tickets by November 25, 2024 they reserve the right to withdraw the initial prize and the raffle will become a 50/50 raffle.  

House Decorations and Furnishings

All items of decor and furniture that were made or painted by Wooden It Be Lovely come with the house, all other furnishings do not. (For example; outdoor furniture, inside sofa, upholstered chairs, rugs, some lamps, and metal coffee tables do not come with the house.)

How much of the proceeds go to Wooden It Be Lovely?

100% of the net proceeds.

Privacy

All personal information collected by the organizers and managers of this raffle will be used for the administration of the raffle only and such information will not be shared or otherwise distributed except as necessary to conduct the raffle.
